About Us

The Kirkcaldy Bulls were formed in July 2002 by three ex Fife 49ers players. Neil Arnold, Mark Bramwell and Stevie Bramwell established the Kirkcaldy Bulls Flag Football Club after finding out about the game of Flag Football and making contact with teams across Scotland.

2003 saw the formation of both Youth and Senior squads with great success as both squads won the Scottish championships in their age category

Following our AGM in 2003, it was decided that Neil would become the clubs first ever Head Coach. We also changed the name of the club to Kirkcaldy Bulls American Football Club.

The club continued to grow in 2004 and yet again both squads retained their Scottish titles.

Unfortunately the end of 2004 saw the demise of our Youth squad as our players became too old for the age category.

2005 saw our Senior squad win the Scottish championship for a third time before becoming the ‘unofficial’ British champions after travelling to Southampton to enter the ‘Beach Bowl’ tournament, winning all of our games against the top teams in England and Wales

2006 saw our Seniors win a fourth Scottish championship. It also saw us make our first European adventure as we travelled to Le Havre in France to enter Flag Oceane 9. A hard weekend of football against the top teams in Europe saw our squad qualify through the group stages to the semi-finals only to lose against the reigning champions by 1 point.

2007 saw our Seniors win their fifth Scottish championship in a row as well as the ‘Superbowl Saturday’ tournament ran by the Carluke Cobras.

In 2008 the Bulls joined the British American Football League (BAFL). The new league format saw the Bulls Seniors win the Scottish Conference, qualifying for ‘Finals Day’. The Bulls went on to be crowned the first ever ‘British Champions’. Our Seniors also defended their ‘Superbowl Saturday’ title.

2008 also saw the Bulls host the first ever European flag tournament in Scotland. The event was attended by the European Champions Mildenhall Mayhem but it was the Walldorf Wanderers from Germany that claimed the ‘Bull Run’ trophy.

2009 saw Neil Arnold stand down from his Head Coach position to concentrate on his playing career with Scotland and Great Britain. Stevie Bramwell took on the role of Head Coach and with the help of Paul Arnold (Defensive Coach) he guided to team to yet another Scottish and British title. The Bulls also retained the Superbowl tournament ran by the Carluke Cobras.

The Bulls hosted their own tournament again in 2009 which attracted the Barbarians from Italy. The Bulls finished second by virtue of head to head results against the Italian select who became the Bull Run Champions of 2009.

The Bulls also travelled to Le Havre, France to compete in Flag Oceane once again, this time we finished in a very good fifth position.

Stevie Bramwell stood down from his Head Coach position and retired as a player at the clubs AGM in 2009 to concentrate on his family committments.

The club continues to go from strength to strength. 2010 will see Neil Arnold back in the Head Coach hot seat and he will have the added support and assistance from Bob Wylie (Chairman), John Guthrie (Secretary), Sean Mackenzie (Offensive Coach) and Paul Arnold (Defensive Coach).
